The vision for my music: I want to write music that is catchy, memorable, powerful, and unique. I'd like to break creative ground in a way that is simple and intense. I'd like to collaborate with excellent writers, musicians and artists from different disciplines. I'd like a lot of people to listen to my music, and I want there to always be something more for the few who dig for something deeper. When people listen to my music, I want them to sense that they are loved by God far more than they know or believe. I also want to challenge them to really live -- to step up and face their lives, to quit avoiding challenges, fears, and memories and instead to actively engage their dreams. I want people to feel like they are not alone and choose to believe that there is hope. I'd like to see people connect with Jesus in a real way, whatever their background or belief system. These are the things I wrestle with, and that my life and journey are about. I want these things to come through in the music somehow, in the form of raggedly real sketches full of longing, struggle, sacrifice and comedic failure -- with unexpected twists of plot and mood. I'd love it if groups of people would choose to sing song of these songs together in concert halls, churches, bars, colleges, camps or living rooms. I'd love to get the chance to hear people humming one of these tunes and see the light come on in their eyes, the question hatched, the hope unlocked as the words and melody sink past the surface to that place where anything is possible and
The vision for this CSM: I'd like this CSM to grow into a vibrant group of people actively supporting and engaged in my work and larger mission. I'd like for the CSM to bring some of the finances needed to start a family, buy a house, make better albums and tour a reasonable amount. I'd like to see CSM members giving me valuable and needed feedback about my songs and recordings.
Christa and Jonathan's joint vision: Our vision is to make art and encourage, connect and create contexts for instigators* in the arts, church and business to positively impact culture.
* "Instigators" here refers to artists, inventors, entrepreneurs, free thinkers, hackers and the rest of that sort of people who spend a lot of their time looking for new ways of thinking, acting and working. This group of people is no more or less important than any other group, but it is the group we enjoy connecting with and feel called to be a part of and serve.
